Does my Citroen C2 HDI have air in the fuel line?

My Citroen C2 HDI would not start and I was having to self-prime it using the little hand pump on the fuel system. I have replaced a push-on connector that I thought was taking in the air, but that did not work. I have changed the fuel filter, but that didn't work either. I read something on another forum that suggested that there is air in the lines and I need to disconnect a line and pump the air out? But I can't get the engine to run if I self prime it, so I'm not sure that is true. Could you enlighten me?

Not sure how old your car is, however it appears that you may have a air leak somewhere before the actual fuel pump, although by operating it manually you are compensating for it. The other thing that may be at fault is the fuel pump itself and again you are compensating for that by hand priming. Lastly, try removing the fuel cap itself, because sometimes the cap vent gets blocked which causes a vacuum and therefore will not allow fuel through the system. Let me know what happens next.
