Jaguar X-Type - which wheels and tyres are best?

I've recently acquired a 2007 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 AWD Sport with fewer than 6000 miles on the clock. Only concern is the ride which is unforgiving (Pirellis, 31 psi). What could you suggest as a replacement tyre for the most comfort- I am not concerned about performance or wear.

First thing, the tyres should probably be replaced on age grounds. Second, the ride quality depends on the wheel and tyre size more than the brans and type of tyre. You will get the best sharp bump absorbing from 225/60 R16 non Energy tyres on 16-inch wheels and the worst from 245/40 R18s on 18-inch wheels. You can look up all the sizes easily at www.michelin.co.uk/
