I like the Mazda 2 but should I go for the new Ford Fiesta instead?

The Mazda 2 range gets pretty good reviews everywhere (especially for its safety), with most of the criticism being about wind noise on motorways and some lack of refinement. I can live with that. The Tamura appeals to me. Do you have insider knowledge that perhaps this might soon get phased out (like the three door 1.3) or any other reasons why I should avoid it? I know I should be tempted by the new Fiesta but I like Mazda's reliability and the fact that it's not as 'common' (I mean that in the nicest possible way, of course).

A new 3-door Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost 100 Zetec from www.drivethedeal.com for £10,300 is a better buy. I too like the Mazda 2 very much, especially in bright red, but it has now been around for six years, so must be close to being replaced by a new Skyactiv model. The best Mazda 2 was always the 1.3TS2, not the 1.5 Sport. But they are all quite harsh and raw. Not as refined as a Fiesta.
