When's the first MoT on an import?

My car (Ford C-MAX) was first registered on 1st March 2010. I bought it new from Motorpoint Derby with only about 3 miles on the clock. The local Ford dealer tells me that it is due for its first MOT by the end of June 2012 - it is possibly an import via Cyprus - so well short of the three years.

Please can you advise if this is true? I understood that the first MOT was not due until 3 years after the date of first registration.

Yes. Based on when the car was built, not on when it was ULK registered.
