Petrol or diesel X-Type?

I currently own a 10 year old 2.1 litre petrol X type Jaguar, I would like to update to newer X-Type, since I only do around 5000 miles a year my inclination is to go for petrol again in spite of the high road tax.

The 2.1 V6 is a rare engine, and Ford did not deem it worthwhile to re-engineer to pass, I think, EU4. So the only late petrol X-Types are 2.5 or 3.0 V6 4WDs.
