My camera detector won't work when plugged into my USB port, is there a problem with it?

When I plug a Snooper into the cigar lighter it works well, but if I use the USB outlet the Snooper screen shows a large USB logo but doesn't work. Is this because of a lack of power or is there a problem with the outlet? The outlet charges a phone no problem.

It is most likely that the USB outlet is not providing sufficient current to power your camera detector. A 12V socket will typically provide 10 to 20A, whereas a USB socket is typically 5A or fewer. If you have the instruction manual for your detector it should indicate the required power input in order for it to function.
