All-new diesel engine to appear in next Mazda2

The next generation Mazda2, due on sale in 2015, is to get an all-new diesel engine using the SkyActiv technology seen in the Mazda6, Mazda2 and the CX-5. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine produces 105PS and an impressive 250Nm of torque from 1500-2500rpm. Mazda promises class-leading emissions and economy, but there are no figures as yet.

High-tech features include a variable geometry turbo to give boost across a broader rev-range, and an advanced cooling system for improved thermal efficiency. As well as the new engine, the new Mazda2 will have the same efficiency technologies seen in other Mazda models, including stop/start and a brake energy recovery system.

The new Mazda2 will be offered with petrol or diesel engines and is due in the UK in 2015.

Who in their right mind would trust a diesel engine built by Mazda?
Mazda's response and lack of help to owners of the dreadful 2.2 diesel should ensure no one who does their homework wastes any money on a Mazda diesel.
