Cheers everyone I know I'll have to wait but .... Nightmare ??

It's unlikely anything will happen. Speed enforcement usually use marked vans and, unless you saw a radar gun being pointed at you, it's unlikely they were there looking for speeders. More likely waiting for a target car to pass on the motorway.

So relax, pay more attention to road conditions and speed limits. Oh, and if your car doesn't sit comfortably at 30 MPH, you're in the wrong gear!

I agree with previous post, chill out. They are there to catch people doing silly speeds and endangering workers, not going at 35 in a temporary 30. You're fine.

There's also nothing special about an X5 police car, there are loads of them around. Now that maroon Range Rover unmarked car I saw once (it had it's lights flashing at the time) was unusual!

Agree with others. Mobile speed cameras are usually in vans. If using a car they'll be outside, possibly with camera on a tripod.

Or sitting in the car resting the speed gun in the open window.

True, but they can do that in any car. OPs question seemed to be whether there was anything special about that car, which there isn't.

Whether he was caught for speeding, it's highly unlikely, but not impossible. The vast majority of stationary police cars are not sitting with radar guns, so he should chill out and wait 14 days. Only a week to go now!
