VW Golf Accelerator Cable Slack - andrew4
Hi All

I have a VW Golf (1300 MK2 81,000 1991).

My accelerator is not 100% responsive so I am going adjust the tension. Is is just a matter of adjusting the outer cable so that the pedal feels right or should I adjust the outer cable so that the carburettor throttle lever is at a particular setting when the accelerator pedal is fully depressed?

Also what lubricant do I use for the pedal linkages?

Check you have full pedal travel ie carpet not bunched up, then with an assistant pessing the pedal to the floor check that the throttle is fully open. If not adjust out the slack until it does then no more. With the throttle closed and the choke off there must be some slack in the cable.
