Various - Coloured door mirrors, am I missing something? - wrangler_rover
I realise that fashions and tastes change, but recently, I have noticed various newish cars with colour coded door mirrors in a different colour to the car.
This seems to be a latest fad but my initial impression was "They have had the door mirror knocked off and have got a replacement from a scrap yard."

Not really a new fad the then 'new' (bmw) mini was one of the first to do this.

Back in 2001!

Yup I'm seeing more of these mongrel cars, must be difficult to weld those odd coloured roofs on.

Plus lots of dodgy electrics with fog lights coming on randomly left/right when the car manouvers.

Almost as daft as those VW Polos 20yr or so ago which had almost every major body panel in different colours - whoever bought them!

Ah yes, the polo 'harlequin', very sought after by certain sections of the VW afficianados these days!

I saw one of these a week ago in a French supermarket car park, a lhd one.

It had broken down and was being worked on by it's hippy-type owner.

Out of interest, just had a quick nosey.

There appear to be, accordfing to howmanyleft, 38 taxed Harlequins left. Another 24 are SORN, so may be anywhere from mint condition to a pile of rust.

There also appears to be one Harlequin for sale. A 1996 car being sold 'as seen', with 136,000 miles on the clock. The pictures, whilst not brilliant, seem to show a quite tidy, original car.

The price : Just shy of £4,000.

Friend of mine bought one. From the state of it though she must've changed her mind afterwards. A thick layer of grime certainly helped tone it down a bit. A b***** lawyer too.

I'm one of them - had both door mirrors vandalised more than once, replacements purchased from Ebay, (have you seen the price of new ones - someone is making a mint, and I won't fund it) presently both are matching different colour from the car ... petrol flap too, yet a 3rd colour!. At least for the passenger door I found a spare the same colour......

(Fog lights comment - these are designed to come on when turning, "corning fog lights" .... I'm surprised it's legal since these are not supposed to be used except in fog)

The setup in the software is for them to be 'cornering lights'. They are fulfilling a different function to when they are being used as foglights. That is why they are legal.
