Do I have to accept my insurer's decision to write off my car?

I have a perfectly serviceable (but bent) Grand Scenic which my insurer wants to write off. Must I accept?

If the repair costs are more than the market value, you have no choice. If the repair costs are less than the market value, then you can insist on either repair, or a cash in lieu settlement at the cost of repair inclusive of VAT. If the repair cost are more than the market value, you can always opt to retain the salvage.
