How do I know if I have a EA 189 engine? My car is a Skoda Octavia 2012 SE TDI CR 1986cc.

If it's the old model Octavia you have an EU5 EA189. If it's the new model Octavia and is EU6 you have an EA288 which passes all the tests. Your V5C registration document will tell you if it's EU5 or EU6.
