Can I keep my car in winter tyres even in hotter months?

My car is still fitted with its winter tyres. I should have them changed now to my summer tyres, which I have here at home, but my tyre fitting shop is closed. Is it acceptable to continue to run on winter tyres for now?

Winter tyres are safe to use in the spring and summer months. The softer rubber compound and deeper grooves might generate more road noise and use more fuel than a summer set, but you can continue to use your car with its winter wheels.
