Used Golf SV alternative for a small family? 18 Jan 2017 (Forum)
Looking at up to £14k for something that has done less than 30k miles. I am wondering about a Civic or C Max. Idealy not the Peugeot Partner Tepee that the HJ car chooser suggests! -
Audi A4 2.0 TDi - Sell or Keep it? 30 Jun 2015 (Forum)
Brought this car a year back @84000 miles and used it all motorways, but now moved home closer to my work and dont really do that much drive on this beautiful diesel car and this car hasnt been dearer to my pockets too. Now that i am clsoe to work and dont think i am going to do real long drives (at the max over weekends would do 80-100 miles). Now should i p/x for a petrol car only for the age / mpg of the car? Any advice please...!! -

Peugeot 405 1.9TD 1995 XUD9 TE/L - Should I use original or an equivilent. 8 Sep 2012 (Forum)
I replaced the fuel filter a few months ago after a breakdown, (symptoms of running out of fuel). This fixed the car and that started another problem.... -
SEAT Leon - Older Leon 20VTs - still good? 30 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Evening All, Bit random this. Years ago I had a Leon 20VT and loved it. We swapped it for a C-Max when the children came along, but the original multispoke wheeled 180BHP models are now well under £2k and I quite fancy one again as my runaround. Currently enjoying a '99 T reg 3.0 V6 Accord Coupe, which is fab and very reliable, but I am tempted by pointy squirty 20VT fun again. -
Low Insurance Cars - Young/New Drivers 17 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Hello Guys, I'm currently 18 and have just started learning to drive about 1 month ago and my instructor says I'm making good progress, so I'm just starting to look around for a car. I have £2000 MAX to spend on the car, but would prefer to stay around £1200-£1500 because obviously any money left over can be put towards petrol/insurance. Obviously as a first car I want it to be reletivly fun/easy to drive and if possible comfortable. -
LDV or something - Very slow lorries 22 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Ok, here's the scenario: Join M56 behind a small rigid axle (18 tonne max) truck. Truck is trundling along at 40mph. Overtaking this obstruction is now difficult because of the large differential in speed between the truck and all other traffic. All the other traffic-including the big 44 tonne artics were overtaking. -

Vauxhall Vectra C - Vectra CDTI 120BHP 2005 problem starting from cold 4 May 2010 (Forum)
12 months down the line, its starting to play up again, but no spanner symbol on the dash this time. Glow plug symbol on the dash lights up and goes out in a matter of 5 sec max Would changing the relay have any effect on start, or would it be something more serious? with thanks -
I've never bought an automatic... 19 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Is there anything I should be looking out for when buying that I wouldn't with a manual apart from the mpg issue? (For the record, I've seen an Astra 1.8 vvt auto and a C-Max 2.0 auto. Ok, as a curve ball, I've also seen a Volvo S60 manual 2.0 which I quite like for some reason too. Thoughts on any of these much appreciated!) -
Mercedes Benz C-Class W203 (2000 - 2007) - 04 2.0 Engine Management 21 Dec 2008 (Forum)
As i pulled over put the car in neutral and tried to switch the car off but instead the engine just went on full throttle and would not cut off with ignition it revved up for a few mins and then switched off by itself as it cooled down i tried starting it. it starts and runs but lacks pulling power in low gears. turbo is working ok have some doubts on flyby wire system worried about car going into in its automatic mode of revving to the max without pressing of the throttle pedal. would like to know if you can help. look forward to your replies. -
Toyota Corolla (1992 - 1997) - 94 1.6Gli Blowing Headlight bulbs every 4/5 month 8 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Last changed both headlight bulbs in March for brand new Osram H4 Nightbreakers, about 4,000 miles ago, and now one does not light on dipped (but stillworks mainbeam) This seems to be the max I seem to be getting out of bulbs over the last 2 yrs. Any idea what the prob could be ? Most of my driving is at night, so they do get used a lot, but still seem to be getting through a lot. Would this signify voltage regulator probs ? -
Speed limits for light commercials. 22 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I was under the impression that a commercial would be limited to commercial speeds. Our beasty is a 4x4 hilux 4 door, could someone reconfirm to me the max speed allowable on NSL single and dual carriageway and motorway roads please, its regd and taxed as a LGV. -
First car 1 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Ive got high hopes and high expectations for my first car, so dont point that out! Ive got around £1350 max to spend. Im looking for a car that fits these criteria: Petrol reasonably quick <12seconds 0-62 dont care about top speed as i wont be needing it ^^ nice looking Ive got long legs so somthing roomy insurance group <8 mpg minimum (urban driving) about 30+ reasonable repair costs + tax anything else i think is just a bonus. -
Hyundai Coupe (2002 - 2008) - Cruise Control- or Not? 27 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Going north on the French A75- pretty steep and twisty at times and rises to 1500m- the cruise control could not maintain the desired 130kph (80mph) at times and just cut out. The torque gauge indicated 175Nm max in 5th.I could only get up to the desired speed in fourth which was a rather noisy affair. Miffed to be overtaken by a bog standard Corsa on one hill. My old 100Ps Passat diesel turbo would have taken the hills easily with its greater torque. -
'Cool' car for 17 year old girl 30 May 2008 (Forum)
Assuming she passes, she will doubtless be wanting a car, and mum's company car does not allow her to be added to the policy (phew!). With a budget of £2k max ( I only paid £995 for my own car) what, in the world of teenage girls, constitutes a cool car? My own thoughts were along the lines of an old LandRover or Almera. Many, many years ago I was over the moon to buy my own clapped out Mini Clubman when I was her age...any suggestions for a reliable first car with the all important 'street cred'...how times have changed.
