Unsure... - What Car to buy? (Economical) - TriciaA

I am considering buying a more economical car. At the moment I have a Hyundai Tucson, it is of course perfect for my 2 dogs (Lab and Collie) however, it's time for me to search something a little more economical.

I have been looking at Smart ForFours online, although haven't yet been able to find one in my area to actually have a look at to judge the boot area. I don't want my dogs to be too cramped! The car will be basically for me and my elderly mother, so the back seats won't be used much.

I'd be grateful for any recommendations please. I am unable to pay too high a price and I guess the max I can pay out, is around £6.000

For two people and two dogs, any supermini hatchback should do the job well.

New model aveo 1.2 ls with start stop for about that budget, £30 road tax, cheap to insure cavernous, based on the same platform as the next Corsa, and cheap to maintain and insure.

The ForFour is one of the least roomy of the small hatchbacks, and was never popular so there aren't many to choose from.

The Honda Jazz is the most roomy, or you could try a small estate like the Skoda Fabia. The Nissan Note is also worth a look - slightly bigger and higher off the ground, which might suit your mum.

I did view a ForFour this morning and yes, space is very limited in the back/boot area. Thanks for your reply by the way. I also viewed an Audi 2009 09 A3 SE 1.4 TFSI DSG @ 15.000 on the clock, automatic - petrol. Looked a pretty nice car to be honest, and very roomy.

you can get a brand new dacia sandero for 6,000

it would be a lot more economical

that would be my top choice
