  • New tyres - Prices online vs phone prices 25 Jul 2009 (Forum)
I?ve just had to get some rear tyres for my wife?s car and I am really surprised at some of the prices for these tyres I was quoted. No need to go into details of the car but I asked for the price for Continentals, same size, same speed and load rating for all my quotes.

  • Dealing with an insurance claim - help please. 13 May 2009 (Forum)
I looked in my door mirror and watched the van getting closer until it struck my car, gouging deep furrows in the o/s of the rear bumper and lesser furrows in the o/s/r wing paintwork and damaging the door mirror. As I was struck, I gave a loud, sustained blast on my horn as this van scraped down the side of my car.

  • Should I opt out of Co. car? What car to get? 19 Jan 2009 (Forum)
ve budgeted £75/month) Are there any expenses I?m missing out on? I?d get a slightly better fuel rate from my company so that?s an upside as well. Any other considerations I need to make, please advise. I would run the car for 4 years (cars cannot be over 5 years old to qualify for a car allowance) so it would have circa 180-200k on clock.

  • mind boggling depreciation 5 Dec 2008 (Forum)
The vehicle provided, after i'd been mucked about for 3 weeks and i'd decided was all or nothing and stuck to my guns..is... a Land Rover Discovery 3, 2.7 TDV6 SE auto, 08 plate, 5,500 miles, with a few extras. I quite like it. Never really thought of 4x4's before as I don't need one, but nevertheless quite impressed. So out of curiosity, looked up the prices. List Price: £39,600 Broker Price new: £31,800 Trade In price now: £26,500 Actual price you'd get: lower to mid 20's?
  • Honda Accord Tourer (2003 - 2008) - Warranty rectification 11 Sep 2008 (Forum)
The dealers seem reluctant to deal with any of these issues, and I've tried all the fairly local outlets, so I need to find a way to persuade them to co-operate. As an aside, I?ve also never had any goodwill what so ever for the 8 weeks it?s been off the road completely since I?ve had it, but that?s bye the bye. Any ideas?
  • Citroen C5 (2001 - 2008) - Cracked tyre valves/pressure sensors 2 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Then, last week, with the car having been idle for two weeks, the pressure warning appeared again, this time for the O/S Front. I didn't try to add air before I inspected the wheel and, sure enough, the valve/sensor is cracked. One changed wheel later (thanks RAC - no thanks to "WKTF") and the leasing company are now interested in finding out if this is normal through their channels.
  • Abuse of blue badges. A possible solution. 10 Aug 2008 (Forum)
There are anecdotal suggestions that at Surbiton station car park there are cars that park there all day, five days a week and there are questions over how disabled they may be. ?If there?s evidence that there?s a substantial revenue loss in car parks that may persuade the executive that it is worth saving that loss.? The findings will be presented to the council in the autumn and the council will decide what action to take at the end of the year."
  • KIA Sedona (2006 - ) - 2007 2.9TD Auto - short test drive 15 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Dashboard seems to be reasonably well laid out, although climate control buttons are too numerous, with the least used bottons as big s the ones that are used frequently. Driving - wow - quick off the mark for anything, diesel, auto or both. Remarkably smooth and quiet inside although I think it s lot noisier outside. A shot drive revealed it to be reasonably adept over potholes and speed bumps - again better than the Trajet.

  • 'Cold' Starting problems. Polo 1993 17 Apr 2006 (Forum)
For the last couple of days, I have had some trouble starting my car from cold ('93 Polo 1043 Inj). When I say cold, I mean if it?s left for a day or two. It?s like the car has flooded or is running far too rich. You get in, and turn the key and its spins with endless enthusiasm, but just will NOT fire. Take today for example.

t give a monkeys. Drive like an idiot in the snow and take what?s coming to you. It probably depends on circumstance but in snow, with my children in the car I wouldn?t stop to help anyone, another time maybe if it looked serious and I had nothing better to do, I might...
  • Prescott Hillclimb Drivers School 6 Jun 2005 (Forum)
A week ago I had a text message from BMW offering a free day?s driving tuition at Prescott Hill, for Wednesday 3 rd June, using one?s own car. As I live less than half an hour from Prescott it seemed too good an offer to miss. Unfortunately Wednesday turned out to be a wet day on the hill but none the less was a very enjoyable day.

I have the following kit: Exhaust bits from Mini Spares: Manifold Std bore exhaust long centre branch Large inlet manifold for HS6 drilled + plug for servo S/Steel side exit DTM twinpipe S/Steel downpipe LCB to rear box Plus K & N cone filter & HIF 44 carb Pipercross cone filter & HS4 carb (currently in the car) Someone suggested I just ditch the cone filter and re-fit the big air box filter, but others run their cars using a cone filter so I am sure its not impossible.
  • Another car crime statistic...... 11 Dec 2003 (Forum)
You often see it in papers and mags and occasionally on the TV but never think it\'s going to happen to you - but last night some pink fluffy dice have come along and nicked the alloys on my Omega and left it on bricks or breeze blocks to be precise!! First thing I knew about it was early this morning when a neighbour knocked on the door and said \"You\'re not going to believe this but all 4 wheels on your car have been nicked!
