  • Car insurance for young drivers 28 Jun 2001 (Forum)
Which companies offer the best deals for young drivers? Is it better for a young driver to have his/her own insurance from the start or be a named driver on a parent's policy until he/she passes the driving test?

  • IAM Essex - Young Drivers Offer 23 Mar 2004 (Forum)
A wee bit of advertising, if permitted...? Chelmsford IAM Group are offering a full refund of the £75-00 fee for young drivers under 21 taking the course and passing the test. Also - a refund of £40-00 for drivers aged 22/25 taking the course and passing the test. Details on chelmsford@groups.iam.org.uk One in three crashes involve young drivers under the age of 20 - only 7% of road users are under 21, but account for 12%of drivers injured in road accidents.
  • Worst Drivers - Old or Young? 30 Jul 2003 (Forum)
After a bit of a debate with my grandmother(!!) I have to ask you out there who you think are the worst drivers - the old or the young? This may create a view arguements but thats the essence of debate isnt it!
  • Young Drivers What is the answer? 6 Feb 2006 (Forum)
The details of the accident are irrelevant to the post. Is there more that can be done to try and lessen the number of young drivers killed? I am talking here solely about young drivers, and acknowledge that all age groups have drivers who drive too fast and kill themselves or others as well. Do we need better education for new drivers, a more stringent driving test, or legislation limiting engine size/power available to young drivers?
  • h reg 1.3 escort - young driver insurance 17 Dec 2011 (Forum)
just been reading an article about engenie young drivers insurance very interesting including the part about fitting a device to monitor there driving to gain discounts on there insurance ,so i thought its worth a look and lets get a quote for my son.I couldnt believe the figures they came back with for a 17 yr old just passed there test with a 1.3 escort h reg as the vehicle £4682.00 and after they monitor the driving for 12 months it would be £4220.So i decided to go to compare the market for a quote and the cost was £2457.00,the ad for engenie was supposed to encourage young drivers to drive sensibly and gain good discounts it seems to me they are just trying to jump on the bandwagon of clobbering young drivers and grab a share of the market rather than help overcome an ever increasing problem.

  • Speed limiters for young drivers? 25 Sep 2007 (Forum)
I just briefly read in a magazine about a company who can fit 'speed governors' to a young motorists car by parents who want to prevent their youngsters going too fast. Basically they re-map the ECU so preventing the youngsters vehicle from going over 70mph without restricting the performance elsewhere thus making the young driver not realise it's been tampered with.

  • Mazda 3 - Young Driver's First Speeding Ticket 6 Dec 2023 (Forum)
How can I handle a speeding ticket I received as a young driver for going 76mph in a 55mph zone, which was later reduced to 65mph on the citation? I made a mistake, fueled by a tiring day at work and being frustrated by a car preventing me from passing.
  • Young driver education 25 Jun 2013 (Forum)
A curfew, for instance, has been proposed, to keep young drivers off the road late at night. Or a restriction on how many young people can be in a car at one time. Both sound good in theory, but more pratically minded observers point out that the police can’t even enforce insurance, with more than a million uninsured cars said to be on our roads.
  • Young Drivers Car Insurance 30 Nov 2003 (Forum)
My son (aged 18)and having just passed his test like all young drivers is horrified at insurance quotes.Even on a £2500 car in group 2/3 for 3rd party fire and theft the cheapest quote is around £1500,this after using many of the search engines e.g.confused.com.

  • CO-OP young driver insurance 21 Oct 2011 (Forum)
He's a retained firefighter so he has seen a few car crashes but nevertheless I'm warming to the Co-Op's slightly big brother approach to young drivers. Even my own driving in that car has moderated!
