  • Used Van Buying Guide: Vivaro 2001 - 2014 16 Jun 2025 (News)

The other big issue with the Vivaro relates to the transmission. PK5, PK6, PF1 and PF6 manual transmissions are prone to failure, due to a build issue. The pre-load on the bearings are massively over torqued, leading to failure in gearboxes with mileages as low as 20,000 miles.

  • Motorists won’t buy online, according to Manheim 5 Apr 2011 (News)
“There is no question that the internet has become the primary research tool for motorists looking for a car. But when it comes to actually buying online, without seeing the vehicle first, consumers are just not ready to take the plunge. • A Grand Monday: Vauxhall Astra Mk4 17 Jun 2019 (News)
It’s very much rooted in banger territory right now, but the Mk4 Vauxhall Astra is a car that has a pretty loyal following, thanks in part to its better than average rust resilience and also for its indestructible powertrains - petrol or diesel, all but the high performance Mk4s are pretty hard to kill.  It’s 21 years since it went on sale, and while it may have looked a little staid at the time, age has been kind to it - it arguably looks less dated than the car that replaced it, thanks in no small part to its unfussy styling.  This example  looks to be in rude health and is barely run-in with just 52,000 on the clock - even in 1.4-litre form, the GM ‘Family 2’ powerplant will cover three or four times that providing that you keep on top of its fondness for consuming oil.
  • RAC calls on fuel sellers to lower prices 13 Jul 2016 (News)
RAC spokesman Pete Williams said: “Despite some fears that petrol prices could shoot up as a result of the EU referendum, we believe there is now a strong case for a cut in the price of unleaded on UK forecourts. “At a time when both consumer spending and the strength of the UK’s economy are under intense scrutiny in the wake of the EU referendum result, transparency in fuel pricing is crucial and we are therefore calling on retailers to do the right thing and pass on wholesale savings to drivers.” A two pence-per-litre reduction in the cost of unleaded would save a driver roughly one pound when filling up a car with a 50 litre tank, such as the Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI.
