Review: Aprilia SX125 (productReview)
However, the average fast food-nourished teen rider will soon take the squish out of the suspension so they don’t have to worry about the 880mm seat height officially claimed by Aprilia. Our test rider is not that generously long in the legs and still found it easy to get a foot flat on the floor, helped by the narrow seat of the SX. Less easy to deal with was the sidestand that was too keen to flip back up when moving the bike, so beware when parking that it’s firmly in the down position before letting go of the bike. -
Review: Ducati Monster 797 (productReview)
As for other practicalities, the 16.5-litre fuel tank should see more than 180 miles between fills without running on fumes and pillion seat can just about cope with an average adult for short hops. The digital dash is clear to read and, more relevantly, the details of this Monster are spot on with nods to the past such as the single headlight and humped fuel tank with alloy retaining clasp. -

Each one has seven pockets to take drinks, wipes, tissues, books or anything else you need quick access to. Simply loop around the headrest and the base of the seat for universal fitment. They also do a fine job of protecting your seat backs from unruly children. Golden Eagle double hammock The Golden Eagle double hammock is probably tougher than you. -

Review: Honda X-ADV (productReview)
It’s the same for the pillion, who gets a decent seat but two hours is the maximum limit before a rest stop is needed. Still, the passenger gets neat fold-down foot pegs and if you go for the optional top box they have something to lean against. Underneath the seat is storage big enough to swallow a full-face helmet, but you’ll need that top box if your passenger wants to stash their’s away too. -
Review: Suzuki Address 110 2016 (productReview)
If you’re a full licence holder, then you might want to carry a pillion – but neither you nor them will have a good time. More powerful scooters with plusher seats are more at home with someone on the back, although a lighter passenger might be okay on a very short trip. Obviously if you’re riding on L plates this doesn’t matter – you can’t carry a pillion anyway. -

It’s easy to pour into the tyre once the valve core has been removed and there’s a telescopic cap to help here. A 550ml bottle will treat two tyres and costs £30. Seat pad Any rider who spends more than just a short blast in the saddle will know that creeping ache that comes from a seat that’s too hard, narrow or thinly padded. This is where a seat pad can save your comfort, riding pleasure and backside. -
Top 10: 125cc motorcycles 2020 (Article)
Some might find the steering a little slow when riding on more open, flowing roads, but it instils plenty of assurance in newer riders. Around town, the upright seating position affords good vision and takes the weight off your wrists. All of that matters, but many will opt for the Hero for its tough looks and attitude that belie its 125cc capacity. -
Top 10: Maxi scooters 2020 (Article)
If you’re on an A2 you’re restricted to the 400cc Burgman, which is less plush but, fortunately, almost as practical, with loads of storage space and a thickly padded seat. Under the seat, there’s more than enough room for everything a rider might need, from a change of clothes to a work bag or even gear for a touring trip – and you can even keep your nav charged with a 12v socket. -

Review: BMW R Nine T Urban G/S (productReview)
The rear end is similarly soft but well controlled, giving an overall impression of a bike that’s ideally suited to all-round use. Our only gripe in this area is the seat is too thinly padded for all-day comfort, so you’ll definitely need a decent break between morning and afternoon stints if you choose to go touring. That’s something the G/S is more than able to do thanks to the 110PS from the engine and 55.0mpg combined economy, though the small front fairing and diminutive pillion seat make it more suited to one-up riding. -
Top 10: Cafe racers in 2023 (Article)
It has all of the looks you could want from this style of bike with the clip-on handlebars, bobtailed seat unit and straight top tube line that could fool plenty into thinking it’s the real deal from the 1960s. In fact, it’s from China, which helps account for the very low price but doesn’t undercut on quality. -
Top 10: Scramblers 2023 (Article)
The chromed tank that gives this bike its name has real period charm, helped along by the flat seat, wire wheels and fork gaiters. There’s plenty of poke from the 28PS 397cc single-cylinder engine and the handling is good enough to for the Mash to be entertaining on country roads. -
Top 10: Budget Motorcycle Trousers (Article)
There's improved grip on the seat area for wet conditions, reflective panel, a double-layered entry system on vent, raised rear hem to prevent boot heel damage, heatproof inner leg panels to prevent inner leg heat damage from engine or exhaust and exterior padding in the hip area. -
Top 10: Cheapest new scooters 2018 (Article)
As such, the Milano concentrates on style rather than outright pace and handling, though it’s simple to guide through traffic on its 10-inch wheels. Just watch out for potholes and pitfalls. There are five colour options and a tan seat, but only limited storage in the right-hand side panel. Lexmoto Titan 125 Finding a 125cc scooter at this price is a surprise, but Lexmoto manages it with the Titan. Its modern style and 700-millimetre seat height make it ideal for those graduating to a more potent machine or anyone looking for a handy city machine. -
Review: Honda PCX 125 (productReview)
Pillions fare just as well thanks to the long seat and fold-down foot pegs. The side rail is scooped out deeply enough for a passenger to get their hands under there even with bulky winter gloves. However, fitting the optional top box makes it even more serene for a second person. -
125cc Scooter of the Year shortlist (Article)
That means a realistic range of around 170 miles per tank. You can also stash a large crash helmet under the flip-up seat of the PCX and still have a little room left over for a small amount of shopping. In the glovebox in the front leg protector fairing, there's a 12-volt charging socket so you can top up the battery on your phone or sat-nav on the move, too. -
Review: Yamaha YS125 (productReview)
Together, they make for easy commuting and are helped along by a very tight turning circle, low seat height and decent brakes, though ABS is absent from the equipment list. The single-cylinder 125cc engine whirrs away in a completely undemanding manner and takes the bike up to 60mph without straining. -
Review: Honda Vision 110 (productReview)
As with the 50cc Vision, the riding position is good, you have a flat foot board that lets you carry bags between your legs and a full-face helmet will just about squeeze below the flip-up seat. If it doesn’t, there are two securing hooks, on either side of the seat, while cubbies in the inner front fairing offer additional but unsecure storage. A pillion gets fold-down foot pegs and enough comfort for most cross-town journeys.
