  A 1,969 mile virtually new 04 reg Mondeo 2.0TDCI LX 6-speed estate in Platinum sold for £11,750, which must have been to a private man. A 43k mile 02 reg BMW 320d auto, not even an SE, made a cool £13k. A 63k mile 2002/51 reg Audi A6 Avant TDI 130 SE sold for a staggering £12,700. A 5k mile 03 reg MINI One CVT auto with alloys and a/c sold for £10,700. A 78k mile 2000X BMW 330CI sold for £12,300. Even a tatty, independently imported 138k mile unwarranted 94L Honda Prelude made a grand.

  It went for £8,650, which made more sense than the £9,450 later bid for a same age 520iSE auto with 115k miles. Super risky was £13,600 paid for a 100k mile 2000X Audi TT 225. While BMW’s steel bore liner 170bhp 2.2 six will easily take 250k miles, 100k is a lot of miles for a 20v 1.8 putting out 225bhp. Lots of stuff was dear. Like £15,100 for an 18k mile SAAB 9-5 2.0LPT Vector estate, but good for SAAB owners to see these cars finally hanging on to their value a bit better.

  A genuine UK 95N Lexus LS400 with 156k miles and full Lexus history was probably a bit more sensible at £4,500 provisional. The least dear Audi TT 225 Quattro roadster I’ve ever seen came with a left hook and 42,900 kms recorded against it. Top bid for that was a provisional £14,200. A 5,000 mile 02 reg S8 with an unsaleable interior bid to just £31,600.

  Auction Prices Begin to Rise 30 Nov 2001 (News)
  Take the new-shape Volvo V70 in the photo. Forgetting T5s it's was the most desirable of all V70s with the Audi 2.5 TDI 5-cylinder engine, it was a 2000X, it had done a very saleable 35,000 miles and it was in a lovely pale metallic blue. Bidding started at a very cheeky £12,000, but soon gathered pace and, after about five minutes hard work, the car finally sold for £16,950.

  Strangely, the excess mileage charge on the Audi is 0.1p per mile and on the Polo 7.2p per mile over 12,000 miles. What would you go for?
