Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - TDCi - Fuel gauge / computer discrepancy 16 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Later in the week, the low fuel warning light came on when the computer considered the remaining range was 50 miles (the gauge was still showing the tank to be full!) and I wondered if the ECU would stop the engine when the computer thought the fuel was about to run out. When I started the car the next day, the low fuel light was still on and computer showing only about 25 miles - 10 miles later, I noticed that the light gone and the available range was 720 miles. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - Facelift - Bonnet Release. (2005) 1 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Anyone have any knowledge of these??. My car is an 05 model. To try and cut a long story short. My car has a plastic rod that runs between the lock in the grill and the release mechanism. It appears self adjusting and spring loaded although mine does not have a spring. The rod keeps dropping off at the grill end. Making bonnet opening very difficult!! -
I've Been Naughty Today 27 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Not working today, so I thought I'd take a run up into Northumbria, see the countryside and scenery. It's been a beautiful day, cloudless skies, bright sun low on the horizon and crisp, frosty weather. I'm a bit worried that Kielder reservoir is so low at this time of the year. -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 2003 1.6 16v - Sat Nav CD's & upgrades. 23 Nov 2007 (Forum)
How do I get hold of an upgrade to the Sat Nav software, how do you tell what version software is currently installed/running and how much do they cost? Thanks for all your help & replies in advance. Dave. -
Vauxhall - Early '70s Victor - were they any good? 19 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Also I've not got my head round the model designations, were the Victor, Ventora and VX4/90 just different trim levels of the same car? I've suddenly become aware of these because a friend of my brother has bought one (he's 30) to run as a family car, a 2 litre VX4/90. Having looked at pics on the internet I think an early '70s FD model looks pretty cool.. But there does not seem to be much information around about them. Is this because they have all just rusted away and are largely forgotten, or were they a bit rubbish? -
Citroen Saxo (1997 - 2003) - VTR dead battery & when bump started erratic revs 9 Nov 2007 (Forum)
It was only serviced a while ago and has full Citroen SH. If it was just the battery dying then it would at least run ok when it was bump started wouldn't it ? Nothing appears to have been left turned on in the car to discharge it by the way. Any advice would be appreciated. -
Renault Scenic (1999 - 2003) - Idle Erratic 1.9 Dci intermitent fault 22 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Undo a injector Pipe Union and crank over the engine to get all the air out of the common rail. Tighten up union and run engine, if it wont rev up just keep accelerator to the floor this will help get the air out of the system. Once you have done this ,best thing is to replace you Fuel Filter!!! My fault happen when is started Using Bio_Diesel whic was to strong on plastic Tanks + pipes, Caused A Plastic jel substance. -
Chrysler Cherokee (2008 - ) - I have one as a hire car 8 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Make your own minds up about the look. As a footnote, saw a few of the cars taking part in the 'Fireball Run' from Florida to California. Got a few snaps of the vehicles including a Bentley, an Aston Martin and a Bat Mobile. There was a GT40 and a Ferrari but they had roared off by the time my camera had turned itself on. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2.2 TDCi (05) - EGR valve? 12 Sep 2007 (Forum)
I'll confess to using supermarket fuel but, in my defence: it could be a bad batch as it started straight after filling up on Thursday and it's run fine for the past 11 months, there is a dearth of Shell/Esso/BP stations in this area that are convenient for me to use, and all my handbook says is 'use fuel that meets EN590' which I presumed was a standard specifictation, and don't use bio diesel. -
Ford - Mondeo IV (2007 -) diesel or petrol 12 Sep 2007 (Forum)
I am toying with the idea of a new mondeo, having run a 1.8 TDCI Focus for 3.5 years. Having had a number of engine issues with my current diesel Focus, namely DMF, starter motor, injectors and auxillary belt tensioner I am wondering whether another diesel is a good idea or not, particularly when the last time I was at the Ford dealership the Service Manager said "great engines these TDCI's as long as they are in warranty, after that get rid of it"! -
Why 3-door cars? 10 Sep 2007 (Forum)
I wonder and have mulled this over for many any year now, as to why manufacturers include in there ever lengthening list of model variants, 3-door version of their run-of-the-mill cars? Ok, special coupés, sports models and exotica are excepted of course, but why would anyone select a 3-door version of, say, a Fiesta, Astra, Focus or Golf against that of the more sensible 5-door version? -
Company car advice..... 8 Sep 2007 (Forum)
So, after doing some research into the custs of keeping my car and running it, compared to the costs of getting a company car, the difference is quite small, and for the simplicity of someone else taking care of everything for me, I think I'm going to get the company car. -
Renault Espace (1997 - 2002) - 2.2dT head gasket 24 Aug 2007 (Forum)
The real issue with engine removal just for the head gasket is that so many other systems have to be compromised. The radiator, Aircon, Brakes, gearbox, suspension, running gear etc. If I have to do it this way I will, but I would be grateful for any input the memebers of the forum could make. Thanks mikellfr -
00 Primera steering clonks 6 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Particularly concerning is the fact that the steering thunks when moving the wheel from side to side when stationary, although the front wheels appear to be moving OK without any play between the clonks. This happens regardless of whether the engine is running, so is not a PAS-related issue. Not sure what to think to be honest -- my first thoughts were a suspension overhaul (track rod ends, ball joints etc) but the steering clonks make me think possibly something more serious (rack??). -
Road congestion...who's fault?? 3 Aug 2007 (Forum)
(i think) so at a guess since 1976 6000kms * 30yrs 180000kms.....i know there are loads of variables...so dont bother posting about the maths..its a summary but on these figures(guesstimates) of 6000km extra a yr...when will we run out of roads also as cars change every 5 to 6 yrs...does that also mean the road building should be done in 5-6 yr cycles as well? just a thought :-) -- sometimes a little bit too much opinion....but its only because i care !!! -
Recycling and CO2 emissions 4 Jun 2007 (Forum)
In order to recycle our cardboard and plastics, we (and presumably every household in the area) have to drive 6 miles to the nearest recycling point. I can see the benefit of recycling, especially as we are running out of landfill sites in the UK, but surely the amount of CO2 emitted by vehicles transporting recyclables must be on the increase. Why do we let our councils pick and choose the items they will collect for recycling? -
Renault Scenic 2000 DCi 1 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Since tehn teh low pressure fuel rail balance pipes burst, replaced, and also the EGR valve as it was fulll of something messy..... Anyeways ontot he problem, car runs fine at all times, however once doing above 65 - 70 the igniition warning light comes on, then goes out once you slow down..... only does it at 65 - 70, obvioulsy a faulty sensor, problem is when reading the ECU fault mem, there is no fault stored (as these engines typically dont store everything). -

Ropey Toyota 11 May 2007 (Forum)
I'm writing to Toyota in the vague hope they'll extend the warranty after all the hassle this car has caused, because if they don't I'm selling it before the warranty runs out and it becomes a potential liability One positive note - the dealership have been helpful and friendly - must be used to dealing with lemons (the cars, not me!) by now. -
cloned car 10 May 2007 (Forum)
