Banger Day at Blackbushe 2 Feb 2004 (News)
There were plenty of nice late cars at auction today. In particular the excellent selection of executive models from LEX which we now see every Monday, Top Car or no Top Car. However, today I thought I’d take a look at how the sheds were selling. -
Keep Your Bottoms Up 12 May 2003 (News)
If you tow, carry heavy goods, run a taxi or own a vehicle that runs on LPG fuel you’re likely to suffer from a suspension that bottoms out. Owners of classic cars and kit cars also suffer. Mothers on school runs, builders and plumbers are affected too. Cars with torsion bar rear suspension like Peugeots and Renaults suffer with it badly. And even the extremely well built Volvos sometimes struggle. -
More Buyers Than Cars at Auction Today 3 Jan 2003 (News)
With only one car hall running at Blackbushe today, it got pretty crowded and there was some almost feverish bidding from private buyers hoping to nab a New Year bargain. And there were a few. How about a 2000W Chrysler Neon 2.0LX with a/c and leather and in silver sold for just £2,925? -
Missing Milly 31 Mar 2002 (News)
This was at between 3.45pm and 4.30pm on Thursday 21st March. Station Avenue and Rydens Road are both wide straight, boring roads with plenty of cars but few pedestrians. If Milly got to Rydens Road, then someone in a passing car must have seen a young teenage girl in school uniform walking along the pavement. Does anyone remember this? She wouldn’t have been as easy to spot on Station Road. -
New-Shape Astra £2,550 at Auction Today 12 Oct 2001 (News)
Now is very much the time to buy as three year old cars can't get much cheaper than this. Okay the 98R Astra 2.0LS DI 16v in the photo had done 171,728 miles (which dispels apprehension about the longevity of this engine). But £2,550 for a current shape diesel car with a 12 year body warranty is real value for money. -
SMMT Calls For Licence to Trade 18 Sep 2001 (News)
Take, for example, the case of John Green who e-mailed today about a steering rack problem on a five year old prestigious German car. He purchased it from a franchised dealer, covered by the manufacturer's used car warranty, which lasted for 12 months. After 14 months, the power steering failed. The franchised dealer quoted £1,210 plus labour and VAT to fit an entirely new steering rack and would not countenance any 'goodwill' payment despite the fact that the car was only two months out of warranty. -

A Grand Monday: Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk 3 5 Feb 2018 (News)
It was a more complex car, built from a formula where simplicity was really the key. But to dissmiss the Mk3 Golf completely is unfair. In GTI form, especially, it had a tidy chassis. The interior was leagues ahead of the car it replaced, and with the GTI's chunky wheelarch extenders and black trim details, it was a handsome hot hatch. -

A Grand Monday: Saab 900 XS 10 Jul 2017 (News)
Indeed, the only thing the Swedes hadn't perfected by this point was headlining glue - try finding an Eighites or Nineties Saab or Volvo that doesn't have headlining like a Bedouin tent (or in the case of this car, had it removed entirely). They don't exist. We like the way the seller has decribed this car, and he's clearly an enthusiast as he bought it 'by accident' at the National Restoration Show last year. -
