Volkswagen's Scirocco to come with smaller carbon footprint

Tue, 22 Dec 2009
Those planning on buying a new car next year that will reduce their CO2 emissions might want to consider Volkswagen's latest offer.

From January 4th 2010, the Scirocco will come with several changed features, including a more efficient entry-level engine and an optional styling pack for those who want to go green with flair.

A new 1.4-litre TSI 122 PS unit is responsible for a combined economy figure of 44.1 mpg and carbon output of 146 g/km.

The engine channels 147 lbs ft of torque through a six-speed manual gearbox and can reach 62 mph in 9.7 seconds.

For £950 extra, drivers can get a bespoke look in the form of ten-spoke, 19-inch alloy wheels with Piano Black decorative inserts in the cabin.

Other additional features include a six-CD autochanger with iPod capacity, a multifunction computer and various safety features including an electronic stabilisation programme.

Motorists may be keen to see what other new offerings the manufacturer with comes out with following its establishment of a "comprehensive partnership" with Suzuki that was recently announced.
