1999 BMW 323 ci Brake pad change 9 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Has anyone out there changed brake pads on late shape 323 or 330 CI coupe BMW's? Just want to know if there is any particular procedures that have to be carried out apart from the usual precautions when changing pads on an ABS equipped car, ie prevent back flow into the ABS computer/brake unit -
Fiesta brake pads and discs 16 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Hello all. Wife's car (ford fiesta mk3) due to be booked in at AA service centre for brake service. She needs new pads discs and braking fluid. The parts they will be using are by a company called powertrain (i think). What are there parts like in quality and service life as they sound cheap -
Brakes & MOT 6 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Another question I really should know the answer to... How much attention is given to brakes during an MOT - do they just check that the car stops, or is there more to it? I know mine are on the way to needing replacement but can't quite afford it at the moment, but the MOT is due on 16th Jan -
Brake fluid change VW 23 Aug 2003 (Forum)
My VW Passat is due it's 2 year service, the car has only done 15k. VW insist that a brake fluid change be done at 2 years/20,000 miles or the warranty will be invalidated. I know there is a safety issue here but what puzzles me is that other manufacturers don't seem to specify a brake fluid change -
Primera brakes 30 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I have a 1997 2litre Nissan Primera. When I push the brake pedal really hard (with the engine running) I can feel the pedal come to a mechanical stop before it is anywhere near the floor. The brakes don't feel really up to the mark under an emergency stop either. I have checked the pedal to floor -
Rusting brake pipes 9 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Just wondering if todays cars are still made with steel brake pipes fitted. Lives depend so much on the brakes you would think they would be made of a material that does not rust, in fact I think there should be legislation to enforce this. In my "bangernomics" days my local garage always used -
Toyota Carina E - Rusty rear brake pipes 27 Apr 2002 (Forum)
My father's 95 M Toyota Carina E 1.6xi recently was MOT'd and passed, but the tester 'advised' us that the rear brake pipes were slightly corroded. Is this a serious problem, and is it an expensive job? Will corroded pipes have any effect on braking performance? Is it advisable that the pipes -
N/A - LFB Left foot braking autos HJ column 15 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Left foot braking is the only way to remain fully in control of an automatic two-pedal car at all times. You have two feet. The car has two pedals. What could be more stupid than using one foot to control two pedals and leaving the other foot redundant? Why allow the car to travel for a second -

My rear brakes keep locking on whilst parked nose up on my drive. Any ideas that causes this. Regards Peter -

Ford StreetKa - Ford StreetKA brake pedal goes to floor 4 Mar 2018 (Forum)
Hi guys, I’m new on this forum and would appreciate all your help! My sisters streetka failed it’s MOT on various bits and bobs, most important being that the brake pedal creeps to the floor under pressure. I started with the obvious and used my eezibleed kit to bleed the brakes, no air came out -
Ford Escort (1990 - 1992) - 1991 mk5 1.3 bleeding brakes nightmare! 12 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Hi all and hope you can help me as I am desperate. Whilst bleeding the brakes to replace the fluid, I have run into a few problems concerning the rear brake drums. I use a bleeding kit that works off the tyre pressure. I raised the right rear, removed the wheel, unscrewed the bleed screw -
VW Caddy intermittent brake binding 28 Jul 2023 (Forum)
For a while now have been having this intermittent problem of the o/s front brake binding. Seems no rhyme nor reason for it and doesn't seem to need the brakes being used for it to start happening. I say this because the other morning I could feel it starting to drag about 7 miles away from home -
Renault Clio RS line 20 reg - Autonomous Braking 5 Jul 2021 (Forum)
Hello, I Purchased the above vehicle with only 4000 miles on the clock, and it is supposed to have autonomous braking. It is switched on according to the very complicated multimedia screen, but there is no evidence that it is working. I have tried with great care approaching the car -
Ford Fiesta 1.2 - How to fix Fiesta sharp brakes? 21 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Fiesta 1.2 64 plate. I am a PDI and use this car for driving lessons. The cars done 24K has original discs (not much wear) Recent Ford pads nicely bedded in. Rear shoes half worn. The brakes especially when hot tend to be all or nothing. When pressed that little bit more to slow down more -
Peugeot 3008 - Brake Pad change on Peugeot 3008, is it a DIY job? 12 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I have a Peugeot 3008 1.6 HDi "Sport" (laughable really how they can call it that) and I've owned it for 18 months. The brake pads, at least in the front, badly need changing. It's a job I usually do myself, but someone told me that I won't be able to change the brake pads front and rear myself -

Hi all, I have a 2003 model Peugoet 307 SW 1.6 petrol. It has been a long time that the brake fluid hasn't been changed. I have two peugeots and I have done all the necessary maintenance jobs by myself so far. So I am guessing that I can also replace the brake fluid. I have already bought -
Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - hdi rear brake calipers 25 Jun 2013 (Forum)
The rear brakes on my 406 do not seem to be working properly - the inner faces of each disk show signs of corrosion which would suggest that only the outer pads are in contact with the disks when braking. I do remember (but dismissed at the time!) that for a while there was be a mild snap as I
