Need advice on compact diesel(Polo,Getz,Corsa etc) 7 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Honda Jazz- not a diesel, but still quite economic and probably more reliable. === 6. Peugeot and Renault- are these worth any consideration? N.B. The car will be used in a country, where repair costs are roughly 0.5 that of the UK. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 2.0TDCi vs 1.8TDCi, 1.8 nicer.... 30 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Well, I am going to be a bit of a heretic here, because the general wisdom is that the newer Peugeot 2.0TDCi is nice than the 'old' 1.8TDCi, but I have just test-drove a low-mileage 2.0TDCi, and, erm, sorry, this is an inferior engine! OK, hit your foot down in 4th & above, it does have a bit more shove, but: The 1.8 is far nicer 1st-3rd - a real surprise to me - the 2.0 is really gutless, not unless you really hammer the throttle. -
Ford S-MAX (2006 - ) - Problem with new 2.2 tdci S-Max 2 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I've had my 2.2tdci S-Max for a week or so now. The engine is basically the same as in recent Peugeots and Citroens, but as far as I can tell from official Ford press releases and also from peering into the engine compartment, it uses a single turbo rather than the twin sequential turbos, though it still hits 175bhp max. -
Vauxhall Corsa C (2000 - 2006) - 06 1.4 Key Plip 26 Aug 2008 (Forum)
If I get the replacement will I need to get it programmed or can i just put it in the ignition and in the on position hold the button in for 5 secs (like you can with Peugeots). Any Idea on costs for a replacement key plip? Your help and assistance is as always very much appreciated -
Ungrateful children.... 7 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Guess what...Micras are not cool because the little old lady over the road owns one! I am now informed it has to be a Saxo or Peugeot 106. Try finding one of them not owned/thrashed or modified by some young lad. Back in my day, tha knows, I began saving for my first car aged 12, cleaning cars for neighbours, caddying at the golf club, paper rounds, mowing lawns etc. -
Has a Car TV advert ever made you buy? 31 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I still remember watching a British Rail (or whatever they were called) advert in the early 90s which parodied various car adverts of the period: opening hangar doors (BMW), priest on train (Renault 19?), train zipping past a blazing field (Peugeot 405), Papa and Nicole on the platform (Clio). All very clever. I asked SWMBO how many car adverts she'd spotted and she of course replied, "what car adverts"! -
Which oil treatment/additive is best? 23 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Hi - I have a 1996 Peugeot 306 non-turbo diesel with low mileage and I'd like to treat it well... Is it worth adding an oil treatment when I change my oil (which i do every 6 months)? If so, which ones are good? It must be hard to prove, but I'm open to anecdotal evidence from you lot.... -
206 HDI ECU Problems? 7 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Hi The last couple of days my Peugeot 206 1.4 HDi (2004) has started to misbehave. When the car has just been started from cold and has not been running for more than a couple of minutes the dashboard sometimes decides to reset itself following the sequence it follows when I first turn the ignition on. -
Pug 405 XUTD Starting Issues 31 Aug 2006 (Forum)
We've got a Peugeot 405 1905cc TD on an L plate. It is an STDT. The problem I've got is that it hates starting. Glowplugs have been tested and seem okay. The relay works fine - a multimeter confirmed 12v for approx. 30 secs. -
My 406 2.1td (again) engine hesitation 5 Aug 2006 (Forum)
It may occur soon after moving off,or not for 10 miles or more and then may occur 3 or 4 times within a few minutes. Before I take it to be 'plugged in' at Peugeot (of whom going on past experience I don't have much faith) I hope someone may have an idea where to look. Thanks -
207 vs. Clio (and G. Punto). 16 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Now I know none of us will actually have driven them (though I could be wrong), but I do have several questions about the nature of them: a)Which is likely to be more reliable? b)Which will hold it's value better? c)Is Peugeot servicing cheaper than Renault, typically? I ask because in July/August I may be considering the pair as Focus-replacements. I'd be considering the 207 HDi (90) Sport and the Clio Dynamique dCi (86). -
Pug 406 Exploding gearbox? 2 Feb 2006 (Forum)
They look after the local taxis and warned me that they know of approx 40% of gearboxes blowing a hole in the diff casing after clutch renewal. New box from Peugeot approx £1300. Does anyone know of this and does it affect the BE3 or ML5 box? (The box has occasionally slipped out of 2nd when cold. Main dealers have said that they could not find a fault, even after having the car a week, or they all do that, you can't be changing gear properly!!!!) -
Astra 1.3 Diesel. Any one driven one? 28 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I am also looking at Focuses but have heard horror stories about diesel MPG figures. My wifes current car is a 04 Peugeot 206 1.4S Estate, but I hate it and want something a little more comfortable to drive when I need to. Thanks in Advance Best Regards Baz -
406 lx 1997, stalls at lights&rev prob 11 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Hi, not sure what info to put, bought a 1997 peugeot 406 lx 7 seater, got through MOT no probs, Saturday started to hesitate on acceleration, this got worse, almost kangaroo! Would get to traffic lights, junctions, would cut out.. a light comes on dash intermittantly that looks like a battery with a fan in the middle. -
306 clutch 20 Jan 2005 (Forum)
When we privately purchased an N reg Peugeot 306 Xld recently, the seller told us the clutch had just been replaced. This may or may not be true. Shortly afterwards we had trouble changing gear, and the clutch was biting extremely early (barely off the floor). -
Yes you can e-mail the DVLA 21 Nov 2004 (Forum)
When I got my registration document back from the DVLA after transferring a personal plate onto it, I noticed the seating capacity of my Citroen C8 was given as 8. I think you can get a Peugeot 607 optionally rigged for 8 seats, but not the C8. So, last week I e-mailed csm.dvla@gtnet.gov.uk, quoted my reg. number and address pointed out the error and thought no more of it. I got an automated reply and then a reply saying that my query had been passed to another department. -
Prices of new C5 range 25 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I think many people will be waiting until the old models are out of the way and (hopefully) prices come down, before purchasing a new model. At the current prices, the new C5 is not much less (or could be more) than the equivalent Peugeot 407. I was also surprised to see that the engine range contains a 2.2 HDI 16v engine, which is only available with the auto transmission. I assume this is an update to the previous 2.2 HDI. Does anyone know why this is being used in the new C5 but not in the 407, and why the new 2.0 HDI is not available with an auto box? -
Picassos at auction 23 Sep 2004 (Forum)
First of all, I've been watching for a few weeks now, and would like to thank all of you for sharing your knowledge, wisdom and wit..... After the birth of my second son in March, I'd like to replace our Peugeot 406 estate, and rather like the look (and price) of the Citroen Picasso. I recently bought my Focus TDDi at BCA in Blackbushe, and was impressed with the ease of it all, and the great prices. Therefore, I'd like to buy my new Picasso there too. -
Car Buying and Selling Stories 25 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I was looking to buy a car for the girlfriend (now my wife) when I happened upon this lovely little Peugeot 104 in musterd yellow with matching interior. £150 later I had said car and boy that was one mistake I could truly put down to experience! Charles (also on this forum) will remember my sighs when I removed the plastic trim over the NSR coil spring only to find that this NSR coil spring was 2/3rds of the way through the wheel arch! -
leaking 205 22 Dec 2003 (Forum)
does anyone have any experience of a 205 leaking into the rear footwells? My girlfriends car (1991 peugeot 205 grd with the vacuum operated sunroof) has started to leak into the footwells and the metal depression where the rear seats sit (i.e. making the rear seats completely s**den). The water seems to be leaking into both footwells pretty much evenly.
