  • Cheap Cheapies At Auction Today 20 Feb 2008 (News)
And quite a lot more, including a late registered 05 but old shape independently imported SLK 320 with Brabus badges that bid to £15,450. And a de-badged LPG converted 2004/53 Mercedes S320L, top bid for which was £13,250 provisional. But it was cold in there. Here’s the full list in order of the sale. As usual, ‘s’ means sold.
  • Curios: Saabo 30 Jan 2015 (News)
Despite Saab’s emphasis on weight-saving design, each Saabo also managed to feature a pair of sofas, a dining table, a sink, two wardrobes and even an LPG cooker as standard.  The Saabo was simple to build too, comprising a pair of large glassfibre sections joined horizontally around the middle, with cardboard insulation to keep the Swedish winters at bay.

  • Keep Your Bottoms Up 12 May 2003 (News)
And negotiating road humps can cause serious damage. If you tow, carry heavy goods, run a taxi or own a vehicle that runs on LPG fuel you’re likely to suffer from a suspension that bottoms out. Owners of classic cars and kit cars also suffer. Mothers on school runs, builders and plumbers are affected too. Cars with torsion bar rear suspension like Peugeots and Renaults suffer with it badly.
  • Mazda to build a Compression Ignition Petrol Engine with a 35% improvement in economy 8 Nov 2017 (News)
In the meantime, Mazda is looking at all options. Cleanest overall in both NOx and CO2 is an LPG powered hybrid. And there is still considerable room for improvement in internal combustion engines. As part of its Skyactiv-X, the next generation of Skyactiv, Mazda is developing a Spark Controlled Compression Ignition petrol engine.

  • Report: Barons 17th December 2013 23 Dec 2013 (News)
A beautiful TR250 was also sold at £19,612, again after a provisional bid, while a LHD, Alfa 1600GT Junior went for  £12,332 and a 2.0 Spider achieved £8.412.   A Bentley TI with LPG conversion in Ming blue was excellent value at £10,294.   Other notable prices included  £7,292 achieved for the S2 XJ6L, £6,508 for a 1958 ‘barn find’ Jaguar 3.4SE saloon, £17,932 for a Series Two, 2+2 E-type in need of a lot of cosmetic attention and £4,380 paid for a 1979 Mercedes 350SEL in need of a full repaint.
  • Triumph TR5 makes £28K at Barons 20 Sep 2013 (News)
This head-turner definitely caught buyers’ imaginations, selling for just under £12,900 after spirited bidding. Other high lots were the  1996 Bentley Continental R sold for £25,772 and an LPG-converted 1967 Jaguar E-type S1 2+2, made £21,500. Although the gold-leaf covered 'ex Liberace' 1931 Cadillac Fleetwood Drop Head Coupe narrowly failed to find a buyer in this sale, it is already confirmed – at a revised guide price of £50,000-£65,000 – for Barons’ 28 October sale at Sandown Park.
  • Rover 75 Diesel for £6,075 at Auction Today 28 Aug 2002 (News)
Probably the best bargains of the day were a 100,000 mile 99V Citroen Xantia 2.0 HDI 90 LX in a nice metallic blue, sold for £2,800. And a spotless yet 169,000 mile 1990G LPG converted Range Rover 3.9i Vogue SE auto that sold for just £1,450. Auction action is likely to intensify over the next few weeks and though prices will inevitably drop as we get into October and November, so will the quality of cars coming through.
  • A rugged winter weather solution - Lada Niva 1 Sep 2011 (News)
Windows are operated by winders, there’s no stereo and there’s only one engine, a 1.7-litre petrol which manages a not-very-impressive 33mpg. It’s not too bad, though, because you can get a stereo fitted, and there is an optional LPG dual-fuel conversion to cut fuel costs. Even so, to concern yourself with the likes of standard equipment misses the point. For £11,000, there’s nothing on the new car market to match the rugged capability of the Niva.
  • Mixed Bag of Bargains at Auction today 15 Feb 2010 (News)
On the other hand, some oddballs made a lot of money, like a 92J Citroen BX TXD automatic that sold for £350.   An LPG conversion saw a 99,000 mile 2001 BMW X5 4.4i make £6,925. Yet anyone stocking up on sportscars for the spring could have had an 87k mile 98R Z3 roadster for £3,200.   I thought an 8,000 mile 09 Micra 1.5 diesel 3-dr looked cheap at £5,700.
