    Philip Kantor, Bonhams European head of motoring, said, ‘We achieved astonishing prices across the board and found new owners for some of the most historically important cars to come to public auction in Monaco in recent memory. Other highlights included a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster at €1,219,000 (£1,064,597), a 1973 Porsche 911 2.7 Carrera RS Touring Sunroof Coupé that made €575,000 (£502,169), and a 1953 Alfa Romeo 1900 Corto Gara Stradale hammered away for €414,000 (£361,569).

  • Apprentices to restore classic Lancia 11 Jan 2016 (News)
    CMC chairman Peter Neumark said, ‘We carry out restorations for customers around the world, but as far as we know this is the first time that apprentices in the UK have been given the opportunity of restoring a car from scratch themselves.’ He added, ‘Apprentices are extremely important in the world of classic cars, which is worth several billion pounds to the UK economy every year. 'It is essential that they learn the skills to keep classic vehicles on the road. We are proud of the fact that currently we have one apprentice for every ten members of our workforce.’ Local Ludlow MP Philip Dunne said, ‘This is a really great project for these six young apprentices, who will be restoring a classic car, from start to finish.’

    Chassis number 10814313 has coachwork by Zagato and this one is a fifth-series example with matching body stampings throughout. Like the Superamerica, it has had a chequebook restoration. Imported to the United States in 2011 and exhibited the following year at Pebble Beach, it carries an estimate of between £1.5m and £1.7m.
