Audi A3 - Audi A3 1.9TDI turbo loss 14 Oct 2012 (Forum)
2 Weeks ago the problem was back, and I also noticed the brakes were not working right either. I checked the brake servo hose (this was fine – only replaced 12months ago) and found the vac line which plugs on to the brake servo vac hose, near the vac pump (on the end of the cylinder head) had come unplugged plus one of the vac lines to the idle control valve (N239) was unplugged. -
Cleaning alloys - Mr Muscle? 30 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Apparently Mr Muscle oven cleaner does a great and easy job of cleaning brake dust from alloys. Is there any risk of damage to tyre or lacquer/wheel? -

Renault Clio - Creaking noise when steering to park or drive out 12 Feb 2024 (Forum)
Same goes when I do the opposite of that to take out the car from the driveway. The car comes with hill start assist, electronic hand brake and autohold as it is an automatic. Just wondering if the sound is normal as there is always some sort of braking action compounding with so much steering. I don't hear it when steering left or right on normal speeds. -

One wheel harder too turn than the other side 31 May 2021 (Forum)
I have installed a new caliper and regreased all the parts that need greasing and the wheel is still hotter than the other side. The only thing that hasn't been replaced is the brake hose. I have jacked it up and spun the wheel and it is definetely harder than the other side, however when the engine is on and I spin the wheel its easier? Could this be a brake hose problem, because when the engine is on the servo is releasing some pressure from the hose? -

Ford Focus Mk 2 - ESP light on dash 9 Feb 2020 (Forum)
Hi,I had a problem with my Focus mk2 1.6l 2010,I started it and the ESP (skidding car) light came on with "reduced acceleration" on the display. So I limped home fearing the worst,I restarted engine and all was back to normal,no lights and normal acceleration. This was 3 days ago.Today I put a OBD2 tester on it and it showed no fault codes or pending codes. One thing I have noticed recently is when I reverse down my sloping cul de sac street, when I brake there is a bit of a grinding noise from the rear wheel (not sure which one yet) but braking in forward makes no noise,I will check the shoes asap but do you think this could be the cause of theESP light coming on? -
Audi A6 2005 - New Duel mass and clutch kit fitted making noises 28 May 2019 (Forum)
I have put a new clutch in my Audi A6 while I was on I did the Duel mass flywheel and the clutch slave cylinder replaced the brake fluid (as it shares a tank with the clutch slave cylinder) and blead the brakes and the new slave cylinder. When the car runs at idol it sounds like a squeeky/ grinding mettle on mettle noise when dipping the clutch and putting it in gear the noise remains but gears do select and wheels turn. -

Citroen C3 - Fix or sell 25 May 2018 (Forum)
There's an issue with excessive travel on the handbrake too which I think is linked to an emergency rear brake replacement at Kwikfit over xmas last year. It's an 08 plate with 112,000 miles on the clock but currently feels fine to drive although I realise that not all problems show.... is this a fair quote? -

Any - No MOT For Cars Over 40 years Old? 17 Nov 2017 (Forum)
I'm concerned about all classic, vintage and veteran cars coming on to the road without any kind of compulsory safety inspection. I realise that modern emissions criteria and brake efficiency tests can't be applied to older vehicles. A major question is what construction and usage regs will apply? I recall older cars having no or one brake lights from new and only one headlight opeating on dip. -
2009 Seat Ibiza - Caliper Pins loose and turning but not coming out 15 Sep 2015 (Forum)
I've tried getting a screwdriver in through the brake caliper and pushing on the end of the screw but I can't get enough force. Not a big fan of this caliper pin design!!! I don't know if the thread on the pin is stripped. What can I do to get the pins out? -
Renault Megane Dynamique 2007 mk2 - Renault Megane 1.6 2007 starter problem 9 Mar 2015 (Forum)
Recently we have had issues when starting the car. It has a push button start key. When we press brake & start the engine appears to whirr for about 10-15 seconds. This would happen 2-3 times before the engine actually successfully starts up. Sometimes when the engine whirrs, a message saying braking fault would appear on the dashboard; and the ABS light will light up also. -
Ford Zetec. Petrol. 1.4. 2004 year model. - Rubbing noise at low speed from engine. 21 Apr 2014 (Forum)
The car has recently passed its MOT and had the clutch replaced at Ford Service centre outside Nottingham. I do not think it is the brakes as car brakes quite normally and does show any odd characteristics when driving. Low rubbing noise is intermittent usually when you take foot of accerallator pedal. Not when acellarator pedal is depressed or going at speed at all.
