  • Young Marmalade launches new ‘Intelligent’ system 24 Jan 2012 (News)
    The feedback from the system is presented to the driver, the driver’s parents and the insurer, and if a dangerous habit is identified then it can be rectified by the driver. If the driver fails to improve their driving habits then an additional premium may be charged and the policy could even be cancelled, so it gives an incentive to drive safely. The system means that Young Marmalade can ensure policy holders drive well, and so it means a reduced premium.

    Rotrak Variable drive supercharger testing progresses. Testing work on the Rotrak variable drive supercharger is underway in Torotrak’s rolling-road test facility.   • Vehicle NOx checker launched by Mayor of London 30 Mar 2017 (News)
    The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has launched a vehicle scoring system, which will allow drivers to see how much NOx gasses their diesel car emits under real world driving conditions. The online vehicle checker will go live in the Autumn and will rate cars from A to H, with the latter being the most polluting, based ‘on the road’ emission testing.
  • Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: BMW introduces new plug-in models 15 Sep 2015 (News)
    The plug-in 3 Series should be one of the standout models of the Frankfurt show, combining a 2.0-litre petrol engine with a 80Kw motor to return an impressive 134.5mpg. The rear-wheel drive saloon will emit just 49g/km of CO2, while its all-electric range of 22 miles will allow zero emissions driving in a town or city. As a well as being efficient, the 330e will powerful too, with 264PS and a 0-62mph time of 6.3 seconds.  The plug-in hybrid 2 Series - dubbed the 225xe - will use similar technology to the BMW i3 with a three-cylinder petrol engine powering the front wheels and an electric motor driving the rear.
