Another car from the brand to be unveiled soon is the New Megane's sixth Coupe-Cabriolet. The convertible will be presented to the world at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show on March 2nd.
  • New VW may tempt car buyers 7 May 2009 (News)
Motorists who look for style, economy and sharp dynamics when buying a car may be impressed by a new addition to Volkswagen's line-up, it has been suggested. The manufacturer claimed its new Diesel Scirocco GT combines outstanding acceleration with impressive fuel economy. Equipped with a 2.0-litre TDI 170PS engine, the car can hit 62 mph in 8.1 seconds and boasts a top speed of 138 mph.

It is also reported that Mr Bolkestein intends to phase out VED, progressively increase diesel duty and harmonise duty of lead-free petrol.

The useful and economical Lupo Sport TDI PD 1.4 is down to £9,705 during the Spring Offer period and its CO2 emissions are 119g/km, putting it in the £110pa diesel VED band. Cheapest Lupo automatic is the 1.4E at £8,535, but this emits 185g/km C02, so VED is £150pa. More at www.volkswagen.co.uk
  • Used car market returns to pre-recession levels 18 Sep 2013 (News)

  • New Volkswagen Golf GTI revealed 27 Feb 2020 (News)
Other distinguishing features of the GTE include a lack of visible tailpipes, while the digital instrument panel and infotainment screen feature GTE-specific efficiency displays. Finally, the diesel GTD is set to continue to be a popular model with performance Volkswagen fans, despite the brand's obvious move towards electrification. This uses a 200PS turbodiesel engine with a hefty 400Nm of torque, along with a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox as standard.  Fuel economy or performance figures are yet to be announced for the GTD, too, although Volkswagen is promising 'high efficiency levels'.
  • Nissan develops an All-New London Cab 6 Aug 2012 (News)
The model's frugal 1,461cc Renault dCi 89 EuroV, 6-speed manual drivetrain achieves 53.3mpg on a combined cycle meaning almost 50% fuel saving than the most efficient TX4 with its combined cycle figure of 35.3mpg. This is the same engine as fitted to the sub 100g/km version of ther nerw Mercedes Benz A Class. The only real questionmark is the durability and longevity of the belt-cam 1.5 litre Renault diesel engine.
  • Volkswagen also manipulated emissions tests in Europe, says German minister 24 Sep 2015 (News)
The Volkswagen Group includes not only Volkswagen and Audi but also SEAT, Skoda, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bugatti and Bentley. The number of diesel cars sold under these brands across Europe is enormous. Here in the UK, diesel accounts for 50 per cent of new car sales. If Volkswagen is discovered to have manipulated emissions and possibly fuel economy figures, the damage to the firm could be catastrophic.
  • American Cars are Getting Older 4 Feb 2012 (News)
In the USA, Consumer Protection laws help preserve cars by landing big bills on the manufacturers rather than the car owners. A typical example is diesel particulate filters. These must last at least 8 years or be replaced at the manufacturer's expense. BMW warrants its high pressure fuel pumps in the USA for ten years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first.

  • Skoda Octavia vRS TDI (2006-) 19 Jun 2016 (News)
The significant change came in 2008 when the 2.0 TDI PD engine was replaced with the newer common rail diesel. It’s much more refined and quieter too but the main difference is the power delivery. Whereas the PD engine would lag at low revs, giving you no power before suddenly shoving you forward with a big smack of torque, the common rail unit is more linear.

2.0 JTD M 170 BHP DIESEL ENGINE Given that Alfa Romeo introduced common rail diesel technology more than 10 years ago on the Alfa 156, it should come as little surprise that it has now developed a new diesel unit that brings higher power and torque values, yet, at the same time, increases fuel efficiency and lowers CO 2 emissions.

  • Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 16-5-2015 16 May 2015 (News)
Or, if you always obtained your fuel from a single supplier, do you want to pursue the fuel station, which has already denied any water in its fuel? It is possible that if the vehicle was filled with high percentage biofuel (which has a higher water content) and left for a long time unused, then condensation created the water in the fuel.
