New VW may tempt car buyers

Thu, 07 May 2009
Motorists who look for style, economy and sharp dynamics when buying a car may be impressed by a new addition to Volkswagen's line-up, it has been suggested.

The manufacturer claimed its new Diesel Scirocco GT combines outstanding acceleration with impressive fuel economy.

Equipped with a 2.0-litre TDI 170PS engine, the car can hit 62 mph in 8.1 seconds and boasts a top speed of 138 mph.

On top of this, the vehicle is capable of 53.3 mpg on the combined cycle, which may mean buyers can save money at the pump.

In terms of its green credentials, the model releases 139 g/km of carbon dioxide.

Standard equipment that comes with the car includes air conditioning, multifunction computer and six-CD autochanger, as well as rain and dusk sensor.

The vehicle is available for UK customers to order immediately.

In related motoring news, first deliveries of the Volkswagen Golf GTI in Britain are scheduled for May 22nd.
