In the main a great car

The car has proved to be very reliable to date, the 1 litre engine is very willing although it can run out of steam in top gear for overtaking once you get up to the motorway speed limit on an incline. Very economical around town, averaging about 40mpg. I would go for the DSG gearbox next time. The Active Info display and Driver Assistance features are great.

Annoyingly the lane departure cannot be switched off by default. The manual gearbox version does however have a serious and dangerous flaw in as much as with the start/stop system in operation the engine has a tendency to cut out at low revs/speed in 2nd gear if you are edging forward in traffic and I have got stuck across a junction waiting for the engine to restart. Other T-Cross owners have had the same experience. VW's answer is to drive in 1st gear!! They don't appear to have a software fix for it.
