55 Reg Worst Month Since September Plate Change

Fri, 07 Oct 2005
Registrations for September 2005 slipped 3.2% to 417,052, making it the worst September for new car registrations since the September change of plate began.

'54' Registrations in September 2004 were 430,763

'53' Registrations in September 2003 were 439,365

'52' Registrations in September 2002 were 432,661

'51' Registrations in September 2001 were 443,265

Year to end September registrations were down 5.2% on 2004, to 1,971,800.

However, this is not sufficient of a fall to explain the shortage of good used cars compared to the demand for them so far this autumn.
