Longer Chrysler Warranties in USA

Mon, 08 Jul 2002
News from ‘Automotive News’ is that from 8th July Chrysler is extending its standard three year or 36,000 mile bumper to bumper Stateside warranty to a seven year or 70,000 mile powertrain warranty, transferable when the car is re-sold.

GM offers from three years or 36,000 miles on Chevrolets to five years or 60,000 miles on Oldsmobiles. Ford offers from three years or 36,000 miles on Fords to four years or 50,000 miles on Mercurys and Lincolns.

The longest Stateside warranties are ten years or 100,000 miles offered by Hyundai and KIA, but these revert to five years or 60,000 miles if the car is re-sold. Isuzu offers a non-transferable ten year 120,000 mile warranty.

In the UK, Daihatsu and Jaguar offer three year unlimited mileage manufacturer warranties. Honda offers a three year 90,000 mile pan-European manufacturer warranty. Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Toyota offer three year 60,000 mile pan-European manufacturer warranties. Audi, BMW, Ford, SEAT, Skoda and VW all offer two year pan-European manufacturer warranties backed up by a further year or to 60,000 mile UK dealer warranty. Alfa Romeo, Citroen, FIAT and Peugeot offer one year pan-European manufacturer warranties backed up by a further two years or to 60,000 mile UK dealer warranty. (Note that this list is far from complete.)
