Toyota to Offer D-4D Diesel in RAV4

Fri, 29 Jun 2001
Toyota's RAV4 SUV is to be offered with the new D-4D common rail direct injected diesel engine from 1st September in both three and five door bodies.

The main benefits are an EU combined fuel consumption figure of 39.8mpg and a CO2 output of 190g/km (£160pa VED; 23% list price BIK tax base) for the three door. The engine develops 114bhp (85kW) at 4,000rpm and offers constant torque of 184 lb ft (250Nm) across the power band from 1,800rpm to 3,000rpm giving a top speed of 106mph and a useful 0-60 of 11.9 seconds. This broad torque band is also very useful for off-roading, of course.

As with the new Avensis Verso MPV, the rear seats of RAV4s are bi-folding or can be completely removed, all models have air conditioning, all have ABS with EBD, all have a remote alarm and Thatcham Category 1 immobiliser and all have roof rails.

Priced from £15,995 (NV Three-door) or £17,495 (NV Five-door), including a full three year or 60,000 mile mechanical warranty. No automatic option for the D-4D.
