Has anyone else come across a self-fuelling myth that needs sugar in it's tank? My top 3 are:
1. The Hyundai Coupe resembles a Ferrari 456.
Yes, but only from the side. And cars move.
2. You can now buy a Lotus Elise for £10,000.
Journalists who come up with this one are either showing off, too lazy to do their research, or lying like flat-fish.
3. The Metro was a good car in it's day.
No, that was the Lancia Delta Integrale.
I'm sure there are others...

All old 30-50 year old bog standard cars that have become "classics".
No they haven't, they've just managed to survive.

The guy who invented an engine that runs on water, but was paid off by "the oil companies" to keep quiet.
This one also crops up in a UFO abduction story that was very plausible until the teller mentions this tale, which then ruins the whole thing

If we slow traffic down and prevent them using half the roadway journey times will shorten!

I've not heard that one. How does it go?
|
Very slowly, I would imagine.

Speed Kills?
Oo-er, can of worms opened. Sorry!

It's not the speed - it's the sudden stop!

Its too cold to snow. (not motoring related, but still an annoying phrase)

"You Meet The Nicest People on a Honda".
This is getting perilously close to Great Oxymorons of Our Time (McDonalds Restaurant, Military Intelligence, New Labour etc)

You can't get quicker than a Kwi* Fi* Fitter.
They're the boys to trust.

If I go twice as fast, I'll get there in half the time so i''l save fuel...

The air car is just as stupid (although not as expensive!) as hydrogen-powered cars. Unless the energy used to compress the air/crack the water molecule comes from a renewable source like wind or wave power. As there is sadly no prospect of this becoming commonplace anytime soon, I'll stick to biodiesel.
I suppose the air car would be alright for city driving - certainly better than electric cars! But having seen the pictures, I think they need to be redesigned to be less painful to look at.

VAG's 4 cylinder diesels are not noisy and horrible

The "thousand pound trade in-regardless of condition"
oops - funny how the replacement is about....err £1,000 more than it should be !!

|
The chap in the pub who bought a car for £500 that was worth much more. Nothing wrong with it except...
1. The bullet hole in the drivers seat back... or
2. Widow selling the car after her husband comitted suicide.. or
3. Previous owner is peodophile in prison... or
etc....
El Dingo (Martin).

Buy one get one free.
You can test this by asking the seller if you cvan take the free one now and you might be back for the other later.

the Ferrari 575 is better than the 456.
Maybe, but I prefer Holly Vallance to Paula Radcliffe.

'The parts will be in first thing tomorrow'.or 'I'll ring back in 5 minutes'
May they be smitten down by a bolt of lightning.

"You can use Coca Cola instead of engine oil"
Perhaps you use the can as a replacement filter? Anyone wanting 20,000 mile oil changes should use Pepsi instead.
No Dosh - but then who has?
