Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI 2005 - Wheel Studs - Changing from alloy to steel wheels - Zell

I plan to buy some snow tyres and steel wheels and have asked the potential supplier - mytyres - if the existing studs can be used. (I am concerned that either the length or head profile could be a problem.) They are quite unable to reassure me.

Anyone know or have experience?

Thanks.

The steel wheels should have shorter studs as steel wheels are not as thick and a head profile to suit the new steel wheels.Just shows you how compitent some tyre companies are that they do not know the answer to quite an important question. Here in Germany where most people change their wheels in winter all new wheels are supplied with the correct bolts.

Andy, thanks, you have confirmed my concern is valid.

Interestingly I am trying to buy from Mytyres who are a subsidiary of Delticon a German company, but the German employees posted to the UK seem to have adopted lazy British attitudes, dont know and cant be bothered to find out. (Their English is good though!)

The answer might be the bolts come with the wheels and tyres, or perhaps the alloy wheel bolts will work. But perhaps I will be left stuck!

Has anyone experience of this issue reading this.

I'd suggest asking Skoda UK or researching this on the Skoda discussion forum, as I'm sure you are not the first Skoda driver with this question.

I've also contacted mytyres UK on a different matter and have been given corporate non answers.

Find a different retailer, who may be more helpful - there are others in Gemany who ship to the UK, eg http://www.reifen.com/en? as an example.
