I've been working most of the weekend, and am amazed in my journies to and from the office at the amount of smashes/evidence of new smashes to be seen.
In one stretch of dual-carriageway - about 2 miles - there were FOUR major dings, leaving glass, plastic, scorch marks etc on the road.
I spoke to a police mate of mine, who explained thus:
"The weather has turned nice, so everybody was out to the beach, and on the pop.
"There was a big televised rugby game on [Our local side, Western Province v Blue Bulls, for those in the know!] - everybody on the pop.
"Province lost - everybody on the pop.
"Had Province won, it would have been worse ..."
