I traded my Picasso in 2 weeks ago & sent the yellow part of the V5C off to the DVLA (by recorded delivery !) to notify them of the change of ownnership. They say to allow 4 weeks for them to send conformation that they have received it and have ammended their records, but as i hadn't heard from them & am about to go on holiday i thought i would phone and check that it had been done. The phone was answered within a few seconds, and a very pleasant helpful operative confirmed that they had received my letter and that they had recorded the changes on the system confirming that i was no longer liable for the vehicle and was able to tell me the date the letter was being sent to me. An excellent service from them IMHO !

I gave the same compliment to DVLA some time ago on this website.

I don't know what the country is coming to, excellent service from a government agency? I have had the same from the NHS "choose & book scheme" got the specialist I wanted AND an appointment with him in mid-June.

On a similar note, twice this last weke I have had reason to contact my local council and the service has been tremendous.

Emailed them on Sunday night saying the lid of my wheelie bin was broken. By Tues a new bin was delivered.

Emailed them on Thurs at 11.30 re an issue with a new set of trafic lights that had been put in near me Got a detailed reply back at 13.45 explaining the full workings of them!

Having previously worked in Customer Services and getting nothing but complaints, I always make sure I compliment when I receive good service.

Thanks for that. I sent something off almost two weeks ago amending a spelling mistake on the V5, not got anything back so I need to phone them up to make sure that my car is not still registerated to Jan!

After someone opens the envelope and extracts the piece of paper and then later someone scans it in, most of the process is automatic and people involved if forms cannot be read.

I suspect the delays are because they batch up print runs in the print room in the basement. It is so automated they will do runs of the same type of job. I'll say what I've said before but I was impressed with the processes at DVLA Swansea when I managed to get a tour of the building. Particularly liked the use of the upturned Kiwi shoe polish to aid movement of photocard part of the licence ;-)

It's always nice to hear someone hand out a compliment. Usually the satisfied customers (who are actually probably in the majority) just accept it as normal and say nothing, but the few dissatisfied customers nearly always whinge about it to all and sundry.

Having received an excellent service as i did on this occaision, i always make sure that the person on the other end of the phone knows that i appreciate it and is suitably thanked for their help. I have been in jobs in the past where i have dealt with the public, so i know how rude and unreasonable some people can be, even when they are totally in the wrong ! They may be in a minority, but they can make your working day very unpleasant !

Another pat on the back for the DVLA.

The reg document for my new CC3 arrived within three days of my taking delivery of the car.

Then a few weeks later another letter confirming the change of ownership of my part-ex had been registered and the car was no longer my legal responsibility.

"You might like to keep this letter," it said.

Given the various strokes and scams some people try to pull, I think I will.
