02 1.25 Unknown electrical switch/sensor - mcrez85
Hi,

Whilst the front passenger side headlight was removed (for an unrelated problem) I noticed there was an electric switch/sensor just next to where the radiator top hose is.
I was wondering what this electric part is and why the metal strut it is screwed into would have oil on it?
Any help is much appreciated!

There's a crash sensor for the airbags on the front panel by the radiator. Would that be it?

Hi,
Could well be. It's black and red and has what look like a black and a black/yellow wire coming from it. It's held in place with a plastic screw.
I can't find any mention of it in the Haynes manual or in the wiring diagrams.

Any ideas about the oil?
Thanks

About the only other component, mounted forward of the radiator, that I can think of would be an ice-warning sensor?

Is this the old model or the '02-on one?

The crash sensors are known for corroded terminals; maybe the oil is for protection?

Its the 2000-2002 old body style fiesta, so it must be the crash sensor.
Thanks for your help, I now know not to go messing!
Cheers
