If I change my engine, straight swap, same power, size just a lower mileage, do i need to inform DVLA and or insurance?

If so, do i need any documents from the donor car?

What if i got an engine from a scrapyard, would they give me the documents i needed?

Thanks in advance,
Salf

AFAIK the only thing that you need to do is advise the DVLA of the change of engine number - a practice that is observed more in the breach than the compliance.

If you change engine of the same capacity it is not necessary to inform anyone, as the rest of the car has done the mileage from the original engine ...

Don?t need any documents from the donor car ...

Scrap yard will not give any documentation ...

Can inform next owner of lower mileage engine if they chose to believe it ...

You do need to inform the DVLA, as your V5 document will be incorrect.
It would be wise to tell your insurance company too, as this would be a material change to the car.
