07 2l mysterious box-Am I being paranoid? - Glaikit Wee Scunner {P}
Was under my Hyundai Coupe yesterday spraying Waxoyl on rusty tow bar and suspension and exhaust bolts.
Noticed a pressed steel box attached to the underside of the spare wheel well. Roughly 6" x 4 x 5" IIRC. Undersealed as per the car floor
Got four pressed drainage holes in it and a cable tie dangling. Without taking the spare wheel etc out and digging further, anyone got an idea what this is? I'm stumped.

A year later I was doing the same again. Looking even rustier this time and the exhaust forward of the replaced rear section is in poor condition.
I guess the Hyundai does not have an aluminized exhaust as per VW group?
