We recently got this S reg Clio as a runaround. It smells a bit fumey inside when on the move. No visible clouds from the exhaust. Had the exhaust system checked out for any leaks & that's fine. Can't smell anything under the hood when engine running. Are they all like this letting in the traffic fumes? Leaves a taste in the throat. Any advice words of wisdom?

Doubt if this will be from the exhaust if it has been checked for leaks.
Probably a breather pipe or similar under the bonnet has a leak/split/poor joint.
Need s checking properly. Unsafe to drive if fumes are bad; could cause accident or worse.
Not normal for these. Please have it checked fully.

Is the gaitor round the gear stck sealed ok, any holes in it? This can suck an oily smell into the car from the engine bay. Likewise check all the grommets in the bulkhead where cables etc go through.
