96 1.4 High pitch squeal from engine bay - allan doc
My friend has just bought an r reg renault clio 1.4 rt and there is a high pitch squeal coming from the engine bay. Any ideas what it could be. There is 2 belts and noise seems to be coming from the back end at bulkhead. Any advice would be great.

High pitch squeal from engine bay - GandA
It could be one of several things. The most common, and easiest to fix, is a slipping drive belt. Check the condition and tension of the belts and replace/adjust as required. If this isn't the problem it could be a water pump or alternator bearing.

a bit of water squirted on each belt at a time via a squeezy bottle nicked off blue peter will make the noise temporarily go away if its a belt,DONT use anything else but h2o,
i once bought an imported tin of belt quietener from the states, waste of money that was and that was in the 70"s but i think it was about 35 pence as well, the robbers
