Xantia ride quality - Ian Cook

I've recently bought a 2 year old Xantia HDI LX and, whilst the ride is good, there seems to be a lot more "bump thump" than my former 1994 TD LX. I've bounced the suspension with the vehicle on tickover and it seems as though the spheres etc. are behaving properly.

Is this likely to be due to the change of tyre profile? The HDI has 205/65 x 15" tyres and I seem to remember the old TD LX had 14" wheels with narrower and higher profile tyres.

Can anyone comment?
