Aircon oddity - Scorpio - frostbite
I have recently upgraded from an elderly '89 Scorpio to an, er, elderly '93 version of the same.

This is my fourth Scorp and they have all been different in engine and dashboard layout as well as other features.

What has me puzzled on this one is the aircon switch - press on and the light comes on, press off and the light flashes together with a loud ticking, like the indicator noise.

Naturally, neither the Ford manual or Haynes mention this.

Since the last owner told me "the system needs recharging" (or is totally shot!?) I'm guessing it might be trying to tell me this but I would appreciate info from someone who knows.
