Vx. Omega 2.0L 16v auto box 1994 97K

Hi guys,

I've checked the contacts (there's no corrosion) & replaced bulbs, but I still can't get my brake lights or rear headlights to be of equal brightness. What should I look at next ?

Cheers,
Pete

rear headlights?? thats a new one on me. I think you mean rear tail lights.
Check if rear lamp units have individual earth points. The dim one may have a poor earth connection to body.

I agree with the poor earth being the probable cause.
Try using a piece of insulated cable and just touch one end on the earh of the lamp unit and the other end on a good source of an earth nearby, maybe a bolt head in the bodywork.
If that brightens things up then look to make a supplementary earth permanent.
I adopted this method on my previous vehicle.

thanks Solara & HenryK, will try that now. Sorry for slow reply, had major PC problems. Sorted now though.
