Hazard of shopping around for insurance - frostbite
I have just heard of a new hazard you might encounter as a result of shopping around for your motor insurance.

Apparently, as part of the risk evaluation, companies will carry out a creditworthiness check with reference agencies such as Experian.

These enquiries are logged against your personal record, and a number of such checks can result in some lenders and others refusing you credit.

Not as scarey as it might sound if you listen to Auntie.

Link seems to be a dead 'un. Radio Four Website, go to the Moneybox homepage and today's episode (1 Nov 03) you should find a working link there, PU did.

I haven't looked at PU's link yet, but there are checks and there are checks.... Very often people will do a check on your credit card number to just see that you exist and to confirm an address. You can see these checks if you make an enquiry of the credit reference companies, but no one else can and they do not affect your credit rating.

The link posted by PU has one "s" too many. It should be (keeping fingers crossed that this will work!)
