I haven't got a clue how much of this is true, my chemistry is not great beyond O level (which gives away my age a bit).

However, the bit about lean-burn engines holds water. They were shown to produce lower levels of pollution than cat engines. For some unknown reason the EU opted for cats not lean burn technology.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the account of the anti-Freon campaign on the same site was on the money.

Thankfully we still get RJ-12 in top-up cans in the auto supermarket. Mustangs won't settle for less :-)
