peugeot 205 1.1 1989ish - reversing light - skinnyjim

Hello, i'm having trouble locating/working the reversing light. I can't seem to find the switch that turns the light on. I think its under the car somewhere near the gearbox? or is it internal ? I really need this light to work as i now park in a very dark carpark etc.... violins can now stop.

I assume you have checked the bulbs, if they ore OK the reversing light is normally screwed into the gearbox but where on your engine I'm afraid I don't know.

Been a while since I owned a 205 but I'm pretty sure its on top of the gearbox housing.

I've pulled this diagram from Servicebox if it helps - item 5.

I think you will find the reversing switch in the base of the gear lever. The wiring to it can be seen if you lift the carpet trim there.

Having had another look at Haynes - and under the bonnet of my 1.4 - I suspect the switch is on top of the transmission, under the battery and distributor. Not easy to get to, but you should be able to tell if the wiring is connected.
